Peter BengtsonRevised access to peak

I climbed Harcuvar on 3/8/07. The access described by streeyyr has been closed by a private property sign in the middle of the unmarked dirt road about 1.2 miles west of Alamo Road.

An alternate method of access from Alamo Road is:

Drive to waypoint 12 2 64 519 and 37 47 386. There is no road sign on Alamo road and no obvious turn off. However, once you are off the pavement, this is a good road.

Continue directly west to waypoint 12 2 58 461 and 37 47 627.

Turn north and cross a cattle guard. Work your way to 12 2 57 363 and 37 52 646. This is the wash at elevation 2368 described by streeyer.

The road past the wash seemed reasonable for a high clearance 4x4. A good parking - camp site is located at 12 2 56 826 and 37 54 641.

All my waypoints are in UTM using a Datum of WGS 84

I uploaded an annotated map of the road approach route to Harcuvar Peak to help make sense of Pete's UTM coordinates. Find it in the images section.
