Hasn't voted | Interesting information about the Ibapah Azimuth, and I've wondered about that. I assume the Ibapah Azimuth rather than the current Ipapah Peak may have hosted the heliograph station in the 1880's and 90's. Kelsey gives credit to the the current Ibapah Peak as hosting the heliograph station and the structures on top of the peak as being part of the heloigraph station. I wonder? Anyway, another interesting fact is that the current Ibapah Peak is labeled as Haystack Peak on older maps and had a marked elevation of 12,101. PS, it's Ibapah rather than Ibepah. Good page. | |

Yes the station is on present-day Ibapah, although Kelsey is slightly off calling it a heliograph, it was actually a heliothrope although the difference is largely technical. It was spelled Ibepah in 1889, and changed to Ibapah by 1944 Survey (therefore, "Ibepah Azimuth" remained unchanged, since the 1944 crew hasn't done any work over there).
