This is a great page. I have always wanted to get out and climb at Index, but have never had the balls (read skills) to do it. Perhaps one of these days ill just throw caution to the wind. Thanks for the page and all the great info!

Thanks for the vote. There are plenty of easier routes there. No need to delay.

There are several scramble routes. The problem is that they are big sandbags and all 5th class!

Ok I will sound like a stupid ninny but what the hell is "sandbag" I see it all over and I know it is not good but I don't really know what it means. (blush) I know some one who scrambled up it and they didn't mention class 5 anything. But I also have to look at the person who did it, because class 3 to them is class 1...>rolling eyes<

Thanks Martin

Tazz,
sandbag = rating something easier than it actually is/feels (ex: Aries is rated 5.8 but when I got on it, it felt stiffer than many 5.9's).

No worries. It means that the actual difficulty is higher than the rating implies. For example, the third pitch of Aries is rated 5.8 in the guidebook, but feels more like 5.9+. That's a sandbag.

Cheers

Thanks Jim! You should come up here and check it out, before the weather get too bad. This weekend looks nice, for example. :-)
