I've never seen nor heard of this mountain. I knew nothing of such a lake-borne volcanic vent. Damned interesting!

Thank you sir! When they dont vent into water they just form lava mounds like are all around Bend, Oregon.

In May of 03 there were a couple of pieces of protection left in lace on the outer perimeter se side. One, right above the park facilities, had been there at least 2 years before. Very faded orange web. Cabin Lake CG had no outhouses last year, forest service declines to replace after repeated hunting season vandalism (they say). State Park Host on previous visit said rock climbing not prohibited, but pointed that many visitors were wildlife oriented, and disruption of falcon, swift, owl, and other bird activity might create issues. My son Mike made a winter trip that involved some climbing at Fort Rock a few years ago, but I have no details.
