Voted 10/10 | Keep an eye, or possibly a toe, out for fulgurites in Great Sand Dunes. Fulgurites are tubes of sand welded together by lightning. They're hollow (I don't know why), with an inner surface of glass and an outer coating of sand grains. They vary in size, and often preserve the branching of the electrical stroke. They're very cool to find, but it's a National Park of course, so leave them be. |
