Hasn't voted | Beinn is the Gaelic word for 'a mountain'. Ben is the convential form for Beinn. I believe that Ben is the anglacised form: i.e the version of the word that the English adopted in translation into the English language, however I am not certain on that. It is funny though how some peaks retain the original spelling and others don't. There is one peak that I have seen spelt both different ways when reading up on them. This is located in Tyndrum and I have seen it referred to as Beinn Laoigh and Ben Lui (Gaelic and English respectively). Hope this helps. Thanks for voting | |

Voted 10/10 | but bad weather, especially on the summit shot. Seems so very scottish. I never got as drenched as often is as short priods of time as when I was up in the Highlands several years back. | |

Voted 10/10 | Good to see some of the Crianlarich/Bridge of Orchy hills around here. Very easy to reach as well, the W-Highland line skirts the lower flanks of this hill. Next time i'm going up to Lochaber, i'll make sure i get on the first train from Queen Street so i can get off at Crianlarich or Tyndrum and take in a couple of munro's in this area. We need more Scottish hills here. | |

Would recommend Ben Lui in Tyndrum, although I failed to summit, I did have the pleasure of finding plane wreckage from WW2 while roaming around in the mist.
