I count at least 6 Castles with 2000P in the lower 48 states which makes it one of the most popular names. Other than the omnipresent variations on Bald(y), this is probably right up there with Black, Red and Lookout as among the most popular names. Of these 6 there are 4 Castle Peaks (ID, WA and 2x CO), 1 Castle Mtn (MT) and 1 Castle Dome (AZ). Washington's Castle is the 2nd most prominent, lagging a bit behind the one in Idaho which has 4000 ft of prominence and is #9 on the ID prominence list. |
