hgrapidReally well done

I really like this page. It is really well done, explained, and photographed. I only traveled to the Adirondaks once, however, even though I now live in the West (Reno, Nevada) I find that the Adirondaks, along with parts of the Green Mountains, and the mountains in New Hampshire, are just as pretty areas as many Western peaks.

Thanks for the nice words. The Northeast mountains are great but I'm definitely simmering with jealousy about your new locale. :-)

I always planned to go there in youth -- 30 to 35 years ago. Alas, grad school, jobs, and moves to the west got in the way.

A few years ago I found my old xeroxes of the Jay area maps -- so old, they were on the "zinc oxide" paper.

Maybe, just maybe.... some day...

Thanks Moapa. I always enjoy your perspective on the Adirondacks. If you ever make it to Jay Mountain, you will not be disappointed.

I was going to put this page up myself but never got out. A great amount of open ridge on Jay.

I beleive I will add this mountain to the Northeast Alpine Peaks list. it Definately meets all the characteristics for sure except one, tundra or alpine growth. While some of the sedges and grasses apear to be alpine, I'm not positive, however, I will add this mountain until someone proves it wrong. Great page.

Thanks for checking out the page, cbucker. It certainly feels much more alpine than many higher Adirondack Peaks, but as stated in the text, it is largely the result of a massive fire back in the early 1900s.
