The technical climbing sucks in the Absarokas and is very unsafe-- rotten stuff you just wouldn't believe, but it's some seriously rugged and wild country and gives endless Class 3-low 5 opportunities that you can do via scrambling. You feel as though you're someplace never touched by people. The Beartooth climbing is much better-- lots of granite, snow, and ice, and it's really wild out there, too. You can't go wrong in Yellowstone country (as long as you stay the hell out of Yellowstone or see it very, very early in the morning). |
