Hasn't voted | Thanks, Fred. That's a shame about missing Paintbrush-- I think it's much nicer than Cascade. I guess I got lucky my two times backpacking in the Tetons. The first time, I camped up where the Death Canyon Shelf part of the Teton Crest Trail meets Devils Stairs Trail, right by Meeker Pass. There was no one else out there, though there were several camps below in Alaska Basin. I packed in some beers, kept them pretty cold under some snow in a shady spot, and watched the Grand turn red as the sun set while I ate beef jerky and drank a cold beer. Doesn't get too much better than that.
The other time, I camped up at the top of the South Fork Cascade Zone, right where the trail to Avalanche Divide splits off and about a mile from Hurricane Pass. Again, there was no one else out there.
Hey, I'm probably going to be staying at Mike Hoyt's place 5 nights next July, so I hope we can all get together at least one day out there.
