This Area Page is one of the most comprehensive I've read. Hope it will encourage more SPers to cover more mountain pages for this area. Gotta check out Burney Falls. Looks spectacular. Well done. Thanks your all your hard work.

I love how you tied together, in an informative and interesting manner, this region. Great shot of Shasta in there too.

Your description of the area reveals depth of knowledge
and intimate experience. And your photos are powerfully
evocative of the eerie beauty of this desolate region.
Didn't realize the Pit was a third trans-Cascade river...
Thanks for a most wonderful reference page!

While Lassen Peak is considered the southernmost of the Cascade volcanoes, it is not a stratovolcano, like most of the big ones, but a plug dome (the world's largest).

reinhard2Is Mt Shasta

Voted 10/10

a difficult mountain? From the pics it appears easy walking from (almost) all sides.

It is not exactly an easy trip from any angle. The shortest route involves a 7,000 foot climb in only a few short miles. It is very steep. Of the many routes, most require technical skills such as dealing with glaciers and such.
