Was up on this last weekend. I would not recommend descending the Flattop Trail unless you're up for a very long slog. If you take the trail the descent is 6 mi compared to just over 3 on the approach. I'd recommend rapping the route or using the rap stations on the spire. A lot less tiring than slogging out 6 miles.

True that! We felt a bit wary about starting a rap descent since we only had about an hour of light left. Flattop sucks, but it aint that bad after a long day on the face; almost relieving. Also check the mileage, didn't feel like 6 mi. ps you gonna sign the climber's log?

Yep, two ropes and rapping the Spire seems to be the way to go. Flattop was waaaay too long.

It had something todo with the light I guess. It looks cold, about to get dark and serious. Sort of like Scotland on a late winter afternoon and you´re too late on the route.

I see on your page that you climbed the route November 13, 2007.

I climbed it the very next day. (We probably made use of your pick holes in the ice, so thank you.)
We traversed left from the top, and went down the descent gully there. Long and boring, but not difficult.

Very nice route page. Lots of really good information.
