On Sunday May 24th 2009, a fire of suspicious origin burned over Lost Horse Mtn. I heard that two people were observed running from the point of origin. Anyhow, nearly all of the terrain from the parking area to the mine is now ashes. The mine itself was saved. In the last eight years, four of the ten 5,000' peaks in Joshua Tree have been burned (Quail, Bernard, Little Berdoo, and now Lost Horse). Pretty sad, imo.
