Thanks for posting the page and especially the great picture of coming down the Thompson ridge.

That must be THE "Class 3" descent in the Sierra! Unforgetable (but total sandbag rating).

Correct me if I'm wrong but,was it Miguel Forjan, who mentioned that there might be rap stations now in Harrington Couloir making it easier to get down to the glacier?

Also, SP member "dug" descended the rock rib between Harrington and Smrz Couloirs and reported (somewhere here on SP) that it was a reasonable descent from the summit of Thompson.

BTW. Thanks for including my name and Michael Gordon's TR in your write-up.

Hi Alois,
As of June 28, 2008, there were excellent rap stations all along the Harrington couloir. Five 60 meter raps gets you down past the usual ´shrund.

Chris a local guide reports there is also a rap route down the Knutson couloir.

Thanks Miguel and Doug. The problems of getting off Thompson are over, I guess. So now one could do several of these gullies in a day!
