Voted 10/10 | Your Scottish mountains are beautiful! Looking at the lowland landscapes, though, I can see why I've been told Scotland needs its wolves back to thin the deer herds. You guys don't have any forests!!! The deer eat the young trees, from what I've been told, preventing forests from recovering. | |

Hasn't voted | Hi Bob, Thanks for the nice comments. The deer numbers ARE a big problem and yes the trees have suffered greatly in a lot of areas. Currently there is an estate in the north of Scotland and the landowner, Paul Lister, is proposing a reintroduction of animals that used to be here. He currently has wild boar and he bought a couple of moose from Sweden last year. The following link gives some good info Laird plans to unleash wolves on Highlands. There was a six part documentary following his plans (on BBC Scotland), called The Real Monarch of the Glen, that just finished last week. Don't know if you can catch anything like that in the US, but it was a really interesting programme. Cheers Stephen | |

Voted 10/10 | I enjoyed reading your page. As a history major in college I enjoyed reading about the plane crash. Unfortunately a lot of our history (especially the world wars) are going away unnoticed and it is great to see a place that is recognized as well as documented so well in your report. Cheers | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for your thoughts on this page. When I came across the wreckage a couple of years ago, I was intrigued to how it had came to be there. There wasn't a lot of info online, but after a bit of searching I found a good bit of stuff about it. To be honest, I was surprised that it had been there for so long as it looked like something that had happened in the last 20 years, not over 60 years ago. Cheers Stephen | |

Voted 10/10 | What I have to say wouldn't go over so well in Scotland, but what would be the problem with reintroducing/unleashing the wolves in the Highlands. Would that be a dismay to the landowners?? Seems like you have a REAL overabundance of deer up there, Stephen. I suppose wolves have a bad reputation, with all the Hollywood movies. Then again, dragons and gargoyles have a BAD rep, too !!! Oh well ... have a cracking day and regards to Scotland! -LARRY | |

I personally think the reintroduction would be a good thing, wolves stay to themselves and your right they do get a bad rep. One day it might happen, who knows! Stephen | |
