
Hasn't voted | Thanks! It's been a fun season. As far as the Timp summit shack, it was constructed during the early 20th century for geodetic and survey purposes, iirc. They may have also used it for a heliograph/triangulation station. I do have a photo of it, I'll get it scanned and get it up soon. Back in 1991 a friend and I hiked to the summit with full packs and slept in that shelter overnight. Quite a view looking 7000 feet down at the city at night. We didn't get much sleep however as the mtn. goats were moving around outside the shack all night long. |
