Yes - I agree the name isn't that great. I found a place online that mentioned that Dead Indian Pass is now usually called Chief Joseph Pass to be more politically correct, but I think the two mountains are stuck with their names for the long haul. It's actually a pretty common thing around here to hear people say things like: "I went up over Dead Indian last weekend."
Thanks for pointing out the New in Wyoming thing - I hadn't found that in the forums yet - still a newb at this!
