I love this area and am glad to see it here plus your plans for the neighboring areas. I look forward to seeing this when it's all done.

I've been planning a hike to Mount Elliot since it is the highpoint of the Book Cliff area prominence wise. You've got a great page going here, keep up the good work.

Nice page, but Book Cliffs should be two words.

There are no less than 48 separate side canyons that run the gamut on both sides of Desolation/Gray Canyons with the whole eastern side not accessable due to Indian Reservation.

Actually the canyons are accessible; you just need a permit.

Thanks, Bob. Working two full-time jobs, it might be another week till all is said and done.
Scott, permit, eh?...I'll look into it. I imagine that particular area would be as pristine as can be.

Great page, If I could have voted an 11 it would have gotten one! I've recently had an irrigation project in Main Canyon on the Utah side I've been managing and have been doing a bit of exploring on the side.

You have a very interesting page here Keifer, thanks for posting it. One comment though, your page width needs to be reduced as it should be no more than 800px; otherwise it will end up overflowing on screens that have resolutions of 1024 x 768 - Cheers Dan

I noticed this a few days a ago while doing some editing on a friends' computer. My home computer aspect ratio is 1268x768, so it's something I never noticed and oddly enough, never considered. I'll play around with it...see what I can do. I've been teaching myself .html as I go, hence why this page has taken me so long to upload 'properly'.
Would you by chance, have any secrets or shortcuts for making this a quick fix?
Thanks a bunch Nanuls!!!
---since I'll be increasing my screen resoultion & size in the next few weeks, this would be a very useful technique to know.

Hi Kiefer, making changes should be fairly simple; as far as I can see there are only four bits causing your page to be so wide:
  • You need to reduce the width of your embeded google maps to be no more than 800px.

  • Under the title "Further Geological Reading", you have two photos sitting side by side, you need to reduce their size and spacing to make them fit into a space of no more than 800px

  • Under the "Flora and Fauna" section you have four photos side by side, remove one of them and just have three.

  • Lastly, the table in the "Quadrangles along the Book Cliffs" section needs to be reduced to a width of no more than 800px. I reckon that'll be the hardest change to make.

Hope that helps.
Cheers
Dan
