The approach route you describe is probably the third best way to get there. The easiest (and arguably most scenic) is from the east via Shepherd Pass. From the west, there is less elevation gain if using the route over Marvin Pass rather than from Roads End and Avalanche Pass.
Your description makes it seem like once you hike up Cloud Canyon it should be easy to identify. But neither the peak, nor any of those around it, can be seen from Cloud Canyon. The cross-country route up Table Creek out of Cloud Canyon requires some work - it is more than three miles and has cliffs at the bottom near the canyon as well as high up at the base of the peak.
All routes to reach the summit are at least class 3. Secor's guide gives good descriptions of the various routes.
Also, there are hundreds of ascents documented in the summit register. I think you meant to say there are few "published" records, which would be true.
Just a note. I'm pretty sure Kaweah Peaks Ridge is not considered part of the Great Western Divide. By the way, got any more pics? I've never been back in there and would like to see more of this mountain.
