Ocotillo in bloom

This plant has those sharp barbs (see shot with my finger) and was in bloom. I tried taking a close up shot of the blooms but didn't get a decent one to post. See this page for more of a description of this interesting plant. 4-11-08

That's great !

Yes, pretty much anything that grows in
the Arizona desert has barbs or spines
on it! I tried to get a shot of one in
bloom when the wind was blowing. Yours
turned out really good, Dean!

Thanks Larry, it was the guy I was with who mentioned the blossoms to me. I really enjoyed learning about the Sonoran desert, so different in plant species from the Mojave desert that I pretty much grew up in.
