Old Indonesian Military (TNI) observation post

This is an example of the Indonesian Military (TNI) observation post. The posts are strategically placed along the Freeport road from Mile 50 onwards until M64 and were manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. One can imagine high up in these mountains that this would not have been a pleasant duty. They were abandoned back in 2006 when the majority of the military moved out and the Indonesian Special Forces (Brimob) moved.
