Alpine Gems

Olympic National Park is one of the most diverse areas on the planet. It's lakes are among the finest to be found anywhere in North America. Many Olympic lakes are extremely secluded, taking hours, or maybe several days to bushwack to. Often these lakes are glacier fed, or snowmelt fed. Hundreds of tarns also dot the alpine country of the Olympic Mountains. Together with alpine lakes, these tarns are a real treat for any thirsty mountaineer or wildlife photographer. Along the shores of many of these lakes can be found abundant plant life and wildflowers. After a hot hike all day it's always a truly exhilerating experience to jump into one of these ice-cold lakes and feel free from the cares of the world. No greater place than the Olympic Wilderness!

True Wilderness
Lake Lacrosse, the greatest Olympic Lake of them all

This album is dedicated to the beautiful alpine lakes of Olympic National Park. Feel free to attach any of your own beautiful Olympic lake pictures.

Thanks Ryan. Four years of exploration yield gems like these. Hopefully you and I can get to a few more next summer with my Indian Princess:)

Drifting through the pages of Summit Post I stumbled on this album. Nice work! I lived in the foothills of the Olympics, neighbors to the North Shore Ranger Station, Lake Quinault for a number of years inb the early 1970's. Trekked these mountains often. Unfortunately wasn't much into photography then. Your images bring back wonderful memories.

Thank you. I hope you can return to some of your favorite spots again soon. I know that I'm missing many of them myself, and I was just there last year:)
