On the northern border of the group stands Erto. A very picturesque town - from a distance. When you walk through it, you realise, that actually it's a ghost town.

A beautiful picture,

there are of the beautiful books of Mauro Corona, born at Erto, climber and sculptor, translate also in German, that they tell of these places.

Re: A beautiful picture,

Was it only the landslide, which caused that Erto is abandoned now? Or was also something other?

Re: A beautiful picture,

The new generations are not pleased of living with little, and try job in other countries. In the east Italian Alps the alpine peasant job it has been neglected and abandoned. In these countrie there is not tourism. Close there is a falesia for climbers and now it seems that there is a sure interest for these places. Excuse my bad English, as usual.

Re: A beautiful picture,

Oh, it's all understandable, Lorenzo. Except Falesia. Now I know it's a place for climbers :-)

Re: A beautiful picture,

yes, Vid,

it is a wrap of rock usually high approximately 30 meters, used from climbers for training. The Erto falesia it is one of most famous in Italy, and has been devised from Mauro Corona.
