Open tundra and beautiful...

Open tundra and beautiful vistas await the hiker and climber enroute to the Citadel. Herman lake is just visible on a bench above a blue tarn (center). The route contours left from the lake and crosses the basin. This picture is just below a thin climber's trail that gains the saddle between Herman and Dry Gulches. Summer, 1998.
