Orbit | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Shirley jamming the 5.9 finger cracks near top of pitch 3 of Orbit. There's some controversy as to what these cracks are rated - upper rating is 5.9 (Nelson & Potterfield guidebook); lower end rating is 5.8. Either way, it's a pretty fun section (May 16, 2004).

You'd definitely enjoy yourself on this one - we loved it! As always the photos "wimp up" the steepness of the climb, but the whole thing has really nice exposure to it. | | Posted May 18, 2004 11:50 am |
| Deleted User | 5.9 finger cracks? | | Hasn't voted | Funny, I don't remember any 5.9 cracks during any of my three trips up this route. Maybe it has gotten harder since I climbed it last. | | Posted May 26, 2004 9:17 am |

Voted 10/10 | Dan,
Radek and Shirley did the variation on the third pitch which is 5.9 as described in Selected Climbs Volume 1. | | Posted May 26, 2004 10:08 am |

Hard to say if they "really" were 5.9 cracks. That's what Nelson&Potterfield claim. Maybe these are so short that real climbers just dance right over them w/o noticing. | | Posted May 26, 2004 11:21 am |

Voted 10/10 | No need to change the caption. "Real" climbers often tend to be notorious sandbaggers as well. The best person to judge a grade is someone climbing close to their difficulty. Dan climbs mid 11 trad I believe. | | Posted May 26, 2004 11:35 am |

Hasn't voted | I've tried to change it back to reflect the possible discrepancy in the ratings.
