Orson Schofield Phelps (1817-1905) a.k.a. Old Mountain Phelps. The basket he has on is a tradtional back- pack of the area and is still in use by hard "core types" of the area.

As a mater of fact you can still buy them. Some locals still make them they are more for sitting on a wall and looking at though. As they are very pricey.
