too hard!
These are very well looking shoes. I have bought them as they felt good in the store; the hard shell seemed to be a good protection of ankles. However, the hardness did not go away after the first few hikes. The hardness was unbearable and took away all pleasure of hiking. After even short hikes (5h or so) I had bruises on the upper side of my feet, caused by the very hard shell. I hated these shoes. During one trekking, I had my old soft shoes sent to me by train as I could not continue to hike in these ones. It may be that they are too hard for a female foot and make a good job for others. But if you are not used to very hard shell these are not for you. They are also quite heavy.

Amazing boots!!!
I bought my first pair of Bhoutans in Paris in 2008. I have hiked and climbed countless peaks both in the US Rockies as well as the Alps in France, Italy and Switzerland and these have never let me down. They are a bit hard in the beginning but if you persevere you get to an amazing fit and comfort. I have done over 400 hikes with these on rock, mud and snow and I have never felt as good in a hiking boot. I just now ordered my second pair. As long as they keep making these, I doubt I would ever buy any other.
