Listen, I bought these for the breakaway straps and that is the part I was suspect about. However, they are bomber. They truly stay attached in harsh conditions and are easy to free of ice and snow and break away when they need to.

The problem is the damn pole. I have these old Black Diamond fasten type heavy poles some friend left at my house 10 years ago! Still adjust and work like a charm. A screwdriver once in a blue moon is the only adjustment. These fancy ELS (easy lock systems) have plastic innards that freeze up in harsh low temps. You better have a tool and some warm hands to deal with it every time. The problem is, you must make constant adjustments whether you are climbing or skiing so this part of the pole has to function. The wrist leashes are fantastic though. You can stop and eat, drink, climb, whatever without having to come out of them. Leki, please combine the wrist leash and lightweight pole with the clamp adjustment system.
