Won't go anywhere without it
I picked one of these up a few months ago and I don't go outdoors without it. As "just" a tripod, it works great. However, it's strength is in the way you can use it- any way you can imagine. It'll grip an ice axe, ice screw, rock, branches- pretty much anything- even bark on an old growth tree. (I've done that a few times.) It's lightweight, compact, and can store anywhere. Pick one up, once you do, you'll be surprised that you didn't get one sooner.

It's useful but......
be careful. I love it with my PnS but have read that even the largest one can have problems with DSLRs.
And I have found that sometimes it's helpful to leave the pod attached and legs straight down while I shoot. It makes a good way to steady it and hold it in my hand.
