Description:

This chest-mounted ascender works extremely well while carrying a pack and was designed for use with a sit and chest harness. The small profile doesn't get in the way and really helps on steeper routes and overhangs.

This is the in my opinion a great step in the right direction as far as ascender's go.I prefer the handless piece because of the weight an aditional handle will add, as well as the bulkiness.Gret reliability and a good exchange for a prusic not.

Frog System
The Petzl Croll Ascender is also the best ascender for use in the Frog jugging system. The Frog system is the most efficient way to jug long, overhanging pitches. The Croll is attached to your harness, as short as possible, and then attached to a chest harness to keep it upright. A Petzl Basic will work for this, but the Croll is better.
