Despite I'am passionate about skimoutaineering, I always thought the best part during the tour is the descent instead the ascent.
I had in the past a pair of regular touring skis like "Fischer Extreme", thet were simple, cheap but very unfunny.
So I decided to try using twintip skis freeride/freestyle with quite large sizes.
The result was massive. Where the weight gain uphill, I definitely gain in performace and fun in downhill.
I attached a lightweight binding type "Dynafit TT" and the overall wheight is OK.
I'm 182cm tall and I choose the length 172cm, which is not much, but confortable when carried on the backpack.
The width provides good flotation in deep snow and the short radius makes the ski very handle on the pist or on hard snow.
The price whithout bindings in italy was around 500 euros.
