Product Description
I lived in Bozeman, MT when a fellow from my church was attacked by a grizzly in the Taylor's Fork area in the Gallatin River drainage just North of Yellowstone Park. His hunting partner, Dr. Fred B., was also a friend of mine. The gentleman who was attacked was named Mark Matheny. He survived and Fred stitched him up while they were in the Taylor's Fork.
In the years following the attack I heard of other bowhunters who also were charged by grizzlies in this same area. Mark developed UDAP in response to his attack.
UDAP is a pepper spray that contains 2.0% Capsaicin and related Capsaicinoids. It sends bears packing according to the UDAP site.Features3.3 million scoville heat units (SHU)

Voted 5/5 | It is important to have a bear deterrent when in bear country. This is a good product but a little bit expensive. | | Posted Jul 14, 2008 12:38 pm | | Bob Sihler | Good to have | |
Hasn't voted | I hope I never have to find out if it actually works on bears, but I have tested this, and even though I sprayed downwind, a little still floated back and got into my mouth and nose. It was powerful stuff indeed, and that was just a minuscule dose. I always carry at least one of these when in grizzly country and when camping with my kids where black or grizzly bears may be present.
It is also convenient to carry and easy to use. | | Posted Feb 13, 2010 11:53 am |
