the z-pack is a dyneema ripstop shell. there are urethane caoted zippers.the stay is a hollow 1/2" aluminum stay that should not be bent. the shoulder straps are dual density foam, and the hipbelt is a single density open cell foam. carries about 27 lbs comfortably. i work at a shop and received this item for a very steep discount, eamil me if you would like to talk about the purchase.

Light but...
for some reason does not carry very comfortably and the shoulder straps seem to be constantly slipping so I need to tighten them periodically. None of my other packs are doing that. You can fit a lot but when stuffed the pack feels bulky and seems to be throwing me off-balance. My wife likes this pack much more than I do but has the same complaint about the straps slipping. And don't plan on carrying skis on this pack.
