Untitled ReviewNot so with the Forerunner 301. I am very happy with this product. The GPS is very accurate and the heart rate monitor works perfectly. This little fitness tool is what the wife and I have been looking for. It is an all-in-one fitness tool that is very easy to use, reliable, and provides everything one needs to accomplish fitness goals. The menus are very user-friendly and we learned the unit in a matter of minutes. In addition to using it outdoors with the GPS, you can also use it indoors as a heart-rate monitor and stop watch. With the HR, GPS, and stopwatch, this unit has the ability to learn the individual's personal fitness level and provide info to improve overall fitness. I can't say enough about this product, except that it does what it claims. Some have complained about the length of time it takes to acquire the satellites, but I acquired sats in 2 minutes with the unit cold, and less than 15 seconds with the unit warm. My favorite option is the unit's ability to switch from running, biking, skiing, and "other" sports, and it's ability to customize the screens to fit your personal workout.
This unit may also be used for outdoor navigation, but only in the very basic sense. I would not recommend this for your primary unit in outdoor navigation. Although it has a basic navigation ability with waypoints etc, the feature is somewhat limited compared to standard outdoor units.. However, for what the unit is designed for (fitness), it is outstanding.
Oh....I found mine on the internet for a fraction of the list price.
