from IWV roadFun scramble. I stayed right on the dark rocks when I should have gone onto the white rocks and ended up with a fun 3rd class scramble to a false peak very near the top. It was fun anyway!

Route Climbed: IWV Trail Date Climbed: January 28th, 2006Great hike but the view was limited. We were in a cloud from the moment we left the rock scramble. Trail was great, only a little bit of snow and a couple of fallen trees.

Route Climbed: IWV Trail Date Climbed: January 20, 2006Beatiful day! Very cool and zero wind. Went up the gully to the right of the slabs (white rock). Very icy, steep and sketchey in places. Down climbed a couple hundred feet to the bottom of the slabs and found the correct route up. Views from the top were awesome. Could see clear past Langley and Whitney to the north. And to the south could see Baldy and Gorgonio very clearly. Telescope Peak to the east and Lake Isabella to west. Don't let the low elevation fool you, this peak is fairly strenuous.

Route Climbed: IWV trail Date Climbed: January1, 2006This hike was much prettier than I expected. I've driven by this peak for almost 30 years, but it never occurred to me to climb it until last summer when I saw the mountain page for it. Awesome views all around--I could see all the way south to San Gorgonio, north to Whitney and the Great Western Divide, and east to Telescope Peak (I'm pretty sure). All that despite descending cloud cover. I was hoping to tag Five Fingers on the way out, but I ran out of time.

Route Climbed: Variation of IWV Trail Date Climbed: December 3, 2005A fine day with Rick Kent and Richard Piotrowski. Nothing tricky on this route and the views north with the previous day's snowfall were great. Headed over and bagged Mt. Jenkins before descending back to the cars.

Route Climbed: Eternal Vigilance, 5.9; East Ridge Date Climbed: November 26, 2005Started out from Indian Wells Canyon to attempt Eternal Vigilance, 5.9 from Greg Vernon's Domelands book, but backed off after the first pitch. We brought too much gear and quickly realized that the subsequent pitches would be immensely difficult hauling two full packs. Our excuse - it was damn cold and windy all day! We scrambled up to the fun class 3/4 ridge and topped out in a few hours in near whiteout conditions at the summit. Plus, throw in petroglyph sightings and it was a great day!

Route Climbed: SW Ridge Date Climbed: November 20, 2005Beautiful fall day on the PCT. Started out at Walker Pass and conveniently stumbled along Morris and Jenkins on the way. Glenn G and I cleaned up some metal poles (PCT trail markers) we found halfway up the mountain and carried them all the way to the saddle SW of the peak where the PCT meets. Trail maintainance, or hikers in search of a challenge should carry these out next time. : - ]

Route Climbed: Peter Cottontail II 5.10 Date Climbed: May 2003I climbed this 4 pitch route on the Easter wall with Kenn Kenega. The first three pitches are outstanding slab climbing on good clean granite, the fourth pitch is terrifying. Needs another bolt on the fourth pitch rap anchor.

Route Climbed: IWV trailhead Date Climbed: 05/29/05Beautiful windy day up there. I have climbed this peak quite a few times since I live right near by. Always a nice place for a great work out and tremendous views.
