milanLike if it was in winter  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 17, 2011
Wow, I soloed this peak. I postholed for several miles from Mayflower gulch to the saddle between Pacfic and Crystal. Then I continued North Ridge, it was steep and with nice scramble between the false summit and the truth summit. Then another postholing in the forest in the evening. Overal great trip.

Second time up this peak, this time up the scrambly West Ridge. The scrambling is not too hard, but there is some loose rock especially in the gully used to bypass a technical looking tower lower on the ridge. Traversed over to Atlantic as well to go "coast to coast".

Very fun scramble. Hiking along the road to get back to the car sucked.

Fun climb but contrary to the report, this is a 4th class route with loose rock. Still, we didn't use a rope but some might feel more comfortable at least having a short rope with them (especially useful if you find yourself off route in sketchy terrain). All in all, one of my favorite routes.

Atlantic West Ridge, traverse to Pacific, over Mayflower Hill on the way out. All from Mayflower Gulch. First dusting of snow of the season.

Climbed West Ridge route from Mayflower Gulch TH. Not much snow on the ridge. After summiting Pacific Peak, traversed to Crystal Peak. Nice route, beautiful weather, great views.

A way better peak than the local 14ers just to the south. Covered in rime ice like a mini Waddington.

Up Pacific's SE slopes, down the NE slopes around Pacific Tarn, and back over to do Atlantic's NE slopes. A moderate snow climb. Took Okie on this trip.

Climbed Pacific and Atlantic starting from the Mohawk Lakes trailhead and climbing the loose crap of a slope to Pacific Tarn.
Atlantic done first than the traverse to Pacific.
BTW...Do NOT do that slope in the summer. Do the east ridge instead

Stay on the ridge to entire way up-very fun and challenging with snow! Climbed with Tim P. in blustery/snowy conditions.

In retrospect, I should have known better...this route in late August, with no snow, is a horror. Steep and loose, football-sized rocks and larger launching. Heck, the melting snow was launching rocks up to fist-sized. Without snow, there is absolutely NOTHING stable about this line. Awful crux section on an otherwise delightful mountain.

One hell of a line! I can see what Roach and Cooper mean by this climb being one of the best and hazardous.
For early July, snow continued all the way to the col with a 6' ice section at the crux and patchy ice after this.
A very decent climb.
Continued on to Atlantic, re-climbed Pacific and on to Crystal and Father Dyer afterwards with Stephanie.

Notable memories:

1. Our trailer hitch broke on this trip, necessitating us to dump our trailer upside down on top of our pick-up truck.

2. My mom quit smoking this trip.

3. I wanted to do the "ridge-walk" to Fletcher but my dad advised that it was not a safe route to do this time of year (it was very snowy).
