| Lots of snow but not enough to warrant snowshoes. Finally abandoned the "normal route" and picked a couloir and up we went. Tagged the summit and bailed out of the wind. Because of the hour we had to forgo Atlantic. | ||

| We planned on the North Couloir, but started too late. Made our way up the ridge then the summit. Great day overall. Definitely going back to do the couloir! | ||

| 10/1/05 - Mayflower Gulch approach. Traversed from Crystal and then continued along ridge to Atlantic. New snow made talus hopping difficult & annoying. 6/12/09 - Attempt #2 at the North Couloir after backing off two weeks earlier due to unsafe snow conditions. Approached via Mohawk Basin. The cornice was frequently shedding snow down a large runnel on both of my early morning visits. A great line that deserves a bit more respect than the average Colorado snow climb. | ||

| A nice scramble along the direct ridgeline netted some exposure, a few class 4 moves and lots of fun. A quick jaunt from the mining remnants(traversed to Atlantic afterwards). | ||

| seth@LOKI | Highest lake at 13,500? ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 20, 2007 | |
| Lonely at the top this July. I expected to see more friends but alas Pacific was peaceful. I had a nice view and boot ski down to what I understand is officially the highest lake in the contigous US (According to limited research on my part, Lake of the Sun at 13,780' is in the Crater of Nevado de Toluca volcano, is the highest in North Amercan) I've also heard that there is a "lake" (that some nuts have gone into with scuba gear) under Mount Ranier's icy summmit. If these are actual lakes, it would seem that these would be above 14,000 feet and therefore higher. Anyone know? 3 in a day! heres the repeat story... I've approached Fletcher 3 times and turned back from a blizzard from Blue Lakes, and thwumping avalanches from the Mayflower Gulch side. This I climbed the rock rib left of the main gulley from Mayflower Gulch. The rocks were slick as snot from perpetual rain the night before. Clouds rolled in and turned me away from Driftwood, but the clouds seemed stable as I descended. I didn't like the rotten Chamonix looking traverse to Atlantic, so I went up the green south wall of Atlantic Peak nad onto Pacific, then a quick visit to the cute little green horn on the way back to Mayflowwer Gulch. | ||

| shanahan96 | winter west ridge ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 26, 2007 | |
| 6/12/09- climbed the north couloir with sarah and dwight. the recent snows gave the couloir a softer top layer instead of the expected hard pack after the bend. we measured it at 52 degrees after the bend. it got steeper after that(55-57 degrees) but i don't know if it touched 60 degrees or not. 1/26/07- climbed the west ridge, and oh man it's one beastly winter climb. lots of class four with a low five crux. the ice and snow force you places you don't always want to go. bring your axe AND crampons! jamie | ||

| Did Pacific after Atlantic via the south slopes. Descended from just above the A/P saddle via the s.w. slopes of Pacific, a steep, loose mess. I would recommend descending from the Crystal/Pacific saddle. Very spectacular summit with plenty of air on the north side. | ||
