trying to find out where the sky begins

Thank you very much for your comments. The Karakoram, tumultuous and magnificent, takes the breath of all who fall under its spell. The man who surveyed K-2, Lieutent Henry Haversham Godwin-Austen, drew sketches which, John Keay remarks in "When Men and Mountain Meet" 'illustrates superbly the incredible perpendicularity of the central Karakoram,. In the valley the eyes never pans. Always it is climbing.
