So, the rock didn't prove to be as dramatic as we hoped, but i still found myself in decent position to get a strong silhouette with diffraction fringe when my friend was on the rock. January 4, 2007. Copyright sam beer.

Well done: I'm sure that Galen Rowell would approve!

I attempted one a couple years back near Tishomingo (Slippery Falls Scout Ranch). The diffraction fringing was much less pronounced than in your excellent image, but I had nice iridescent clouds in the background. Alas, it was just a climbing wall. :-( You can see it here, if you're interested:
