MusiscaClear Day in Nebraska  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 9, 2015
Clear day in Nebraska for the summit. Herd of bison nearby made the flat summit much more intriguing. Worth stopping by and checking out.

On the way to Thanksgiving in MN. Ended up trying to use the GPS which fell about 1/4 mile short and would have sent us through someone's front yard. Unfortunately it was dark so couldn't find any landmark; kept going towards where we thought the road should be and found it. Snow flurries, took a photo at the marker, saw nothing, donated our $3 and left.

BajumbugFirst High Point  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 14, 2012

Driving from Pocatello to Omaha, I saw this was fairly close to the freeway and decided to enjoy the novelty of going to a State High Point. Though I had thought a little about it through my life, I never seriously thought I'd be able to go to more than a couple. Little did I know what was in store for me that year--my job has me travel a lot, and I wound up visiting 13 summits in 2012. I had been bitten by the bug, and was able to do 13 more in 2013. I'm running out of the easy ones, though, may need to get serious. Very easy to find after reading the directions on Summitpost.

If I recall, very tough to find, in the middle of corn fields.

Fun visit. Drove up from Briggsdale, CO after camping at Pawnee National Grassland Crow Valley. Easy route but watch the last turn on to the private road as it is not signed coming from the south. Also enjoyed the nearby tri-point. Added better directions in the additions section. #40 for me, #27 for Lillian, #11 for John, #10 for Barb.

After a successful trip up Mt. Elbert my friend and I stopped to summit Nebraska. Even though it may not be a mountain I still enjoy HP's like this. I love listening to silence out in the middle of nowhere. Watched the sun go down then continued on our way back to WI.

Interesting place. We visited on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Several register entries from the weekend. Also visited the nearby NE, CO, WY state tri-point. Thanks to the landowners for allowing public access.

After an all encompassing drive from my sister's house in Des Moines, Iowa, totaling 621 miles, I finally arrived at Panarama Point. I decided to stop off at an old abandoned school house just four or so miles down gravel roads from the actual high point. The land was so open, not a soul in sight. As I drove, throwing up dust in my past, I passed a farmhouse just like the directions said. The cattle guard was next. I stopped the car and took an envelope used to collect the two buck entrance fee, left an offering, then moved on through the rubber hose spring gate. I jumped out and snapped a picture of the roaming bison. Turning at the second cattle guard, I knew I was close. Just up the hill. It was a cold, 30's, and I wasn't dressed for the weather. After reaching the monument, I leapt out the Jeep. The register was interesting. It was comprised of two books, I wrote in the latter of the second. To read other people's comments was something different than expected. I never once thought of other people's experiences on the highpoint trail. One interesting note was written on 9.11.1 and opened with simply, "Sad Day". It then went on to talk about how the group was going to keep on with their highpoint trip. Written in bold letters were words from John Lennon's "Imagine". Another page revealed the last people there before I was four days previous. I'm sure you run into people sometimes. So I drank a Miller High Life and sailed off to snowy Frisco, Colorado.
