| I really like these type of out of the way attractions. This ranks up with the World's Largest Ball of Twine in Cawker City, Kansas. | ||

| The views are very nice out here in the middle of nowhere. There was also a lot of bison watching me as I "summited". | ||

| Redwic | Two State Highpoints, One Day!!! ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 8, 2007 | |
| After visiting Kansas' state highpoint (Mount Sunflower) in the morning, I drove to Nebraska so that I could visit it's state highpoint (Panorama Point) the same day. I have to be honest... When people talk about "driving in the middle of nowhere", they don't know what they are talking about *unless* they are referring to the 20 miles of dirt roads leading to this location. It was very windy at the "summit", but otherwise there was beautiful weather. Panorama Point, itself, had good views, and I am glad to have travelled to it. | ||

| Though I spend much time in the mountains, I have always loved the vast open spaces of the great plains. So much land and so few people. When we arrived at the top (via auto...no hiking allowed) we met a couple hanging out in the shade of their open tailgate and just enjoying the solitude and scenery. They were in no hurry to go anywhere and were contemplating becoming highpointers as this was their 3rd state summit. Oh yeah, and the skies were not cloudy all day. | ||

| TLP | I didn't see any bison ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 17, 2007 | |
| I almost made a bad wrong turn, trying to get to this place. It really is in the middle of NOWHERE. Got out of there in the nick of time too, because a thunderstorm also wanted to pay a visit to the highpoint that day. | ||

| Really pretty spot, underappreciated for sure. Very green in the late spring after lots of rain, also visited the tri-state marker very nearby. Surprised that the people who own the property don't do more to maintain the road to the high point, since they request donations. | ||

| I've said it before, I'll say it again...beauty is most definitely in the eye of the beholder. First state highpoint, decided to make a special trip from mid-state to bag my home state's first. Unfortunately, I was not a purist and drove to the "summit." Clear day, watched the sun set over Rockies foothills in distant West - just barely visible. Saw a few bison below. Signed register and lingered. It's a beautiful, rugged, underappreciated landscape. | ||

| McCannster | 2nd State High Point ![]() Date Climbed: Feb 18, 2007 | |
| Drove up during my stay in Boulder, CO. I had never really been in the true Great Plains, so this visit was pretty interesting to me. Mostly cloudy conditions, temperature was about 45 F at 4 PM when I reached the top. A snow mound blocked the entrance to the dirt road, so I ran to the top in 10 minutes. Did a backflip off the register thing, prossibly the highest backflip ever done in the state of NE, unless someone else has done a backflip at that spot. The scenery out there made me think of the movie "Fargo". ;) Fun trip | ||

| Drove across Wyoming after climbing Kings Peak in Utah. A tornado touched down a few miles in front of us as we drove. Drove to the top just before dark with son Ryan. Signed the register and left in search of a motel and a good meal. Stayed in Pine Bluffs, WY and then headed for Mount Elbert, CO. HP #19. | ||
