Overview
Jura mountains are located at the Swiss-French border and they stretch between Geneva and Basle.
Le Reculet is the second highest summit after the Crêt de la Neige (1718m). It offers a splendid view of Geneva, the Lake of Geneva and the Alps with the Mont-Blanc massif .
The summit is crowned by a huge cross of the 19e century wrought-iron craft.
The ascent is hiking, there is no particular difficulty, and it can be done from any side. However the most popular route is the SE slope from Tiocan (above Thoiry), because it goes across a forest which is a nature reserve. It is a waymarked path with clear indications (2-3 hours, 850m).
Near the summit, you will find the "pins à crochet", that are pines specific to this part of the Jura.
If you lucky you will see some chamois.
Because the Jura Mountains are limestone rock, you will not find any water on the trail. Do not forget to bring some beverage with you.
Getting There
