Overview

Cloudripper is the highest peak of the inconsolable range, a small range north of the palisade region. It is also the 50th highest peak in California. Norman Clyde made the first asscend June 15 1927. The views from the peak are excellent!! You can see Mt. Sill, North Pal, the Thumb, Mt. Agassiz, the Palisade Glacier,Bishop Pass, Mt. Goode, Mt. Thompson, Dusy Basin, Bishop Lakes Basin, White Mountain, and much more. A great way to combine this peak with a backpack trip would be to start at the North Fork Trail Head in Big Pine. Hike up to one of the upper lakes and make a camp. On the way up you will pass some of the best scenery in the High Sierra!! Five peaks are over 14 thousand feet and you can see some of the Palisade Glacier. Cloudripper is to the North behind the 6th and 7th lakes. Cross country it to the low point to the right of the peak. Follow the ridge up to the top. There is some easy class 3 boulders on the peak. The peak itself is pretty small it could hold about 2 people. This is a awesome 2-3 day backpack peakbag trip!! Cloudripper is also on the Sierra Peaks List.
