Overview
This is a very easy hike for the experienced, i have found this to be perfect breaking ground for newbies with just over 2400 feet of elevation gain in just under 4 miles to the first peak. Twin Sisters proved to be a very pleasant little hike with wonderful views of the surrounding area, You can see Longs Peak, Meaker, the Tahosa valley, Estes Park and the eastern plains sheesh, pretty much the entire Rocky Mountain National Park.
Getting There
It is really easy. From Estes Park, drive south on Hwy. 7 to the Lily Lake Visitor Center, from the Lily Lake Visitor center drive up the dirt road away from the lake.
Red Tape
No permits are required. No Fees or seasonal closures. Hike at your own risk. Plenty of parking all along the dirt road. Observe the normal rules of the land, my rule of thumb is to leave trails and campgrounds cleaner than I found them.
When To Climb
In the summer months this is a great hike on a good weather day. Late April to early September. Out of season hiking would be up to your own discretion since i have not hiked it, however i do plan on taking the ole' snow shoes up this winter.
Camping
Rocky Mountain National Park is open all year round. If you plan to stay the night, you must be in one of the near by designated campgrounds.
Mountain Conditions
The visitor center near Twin Sisters at Lily Lake it is open daily from June through August. I always stop at ranger stations and visitor centers to get the latest weather and trail conditions.
