Overview
Liberty Cap is an impressive looking peak at the top of Nevada Falls, Yosemite NP. The North face is an easy 2nd/3rd class route with spectacular views of Half Dome all the way up and from the top. I don't think many people climb Liberty Cap, we followed a small trail near the base but as we gained altitude it petered out and we found our own way.
There is also a technical 5th class 2 day big wall climb on the South West face, for the much more adventurous, which is described here
Getting There
From the Valley parking lot you can hike up the John Muir Trail (JMT) or Mist Trail to the top of Nevada Falls. I recommend the JMT which will keep you drier and is not crowded. From Nevada Falls follow the JMT further around the base of Liberty Cap until you sight the gulley in the North face. Leave the JMT here and bushwack towards that gulley.
Red Tape
The whole thing can be done in a day, so there is no need to camp in Yosemite Valley if you dont want to. This leaves only the day pass fee for Yosemite NP - $20 in a car, $10 on the bus.

When To Climb
Late Spring, Summer, early Fall. There was still some snow patches mid May so I imagine you will need snow shoes and ice axe in Winter (maybe crampons just in case).
