Approach

Take hwy out of Durango, north to Engineer Mountain past Purgatory ski resort. The road makes a sharp turn to the right below Engineer. The parking area is to the left down a small section of road that will be blocked by a gate. You can enter Cascade canyon by walking further up the road and finding a way through the snow. This will lead to the bottom of the canyon. Or you can walk back up the road for about 5 minutes where you will see a drive or entrance on the left. Walk down and find the top of the canyon and rappel in.
