Moving Masses of Ice

What? Glaciers in California. Believe it or not there are over 1700 permanent bodies of ice and snow in California. There is no consensus on the exact number of which are glaciers. However, there is consensus that these glaciers are all receding, with the exception of Mt Shasta's glaciers which have increased in size. This album is a collection of some of the larger glaciers/glacierets in the Sierra Nevada, Klamath Mountains, and Mt Shasta.

Please attach your California glacier photos. The photo caption should include the DATE the photo was taken, WHERE the photo was taken, and WHAT is in the photo. Late season (September) and early (pre-2000) photos of any quality are most valuable.
