The Bifertenstock 3419m is a mountain in Switzerland, canton Glarus. He is the second highest mountain in the canton Glarus after Toedi 3614m. He is on the Border of the Swiss cantons Glarus and Grisons.

To the north of the summit you find the glacier "Griessfirn" and "Limmerenfirn". To the south you find the glacier "Glatscher da Frisal". Bifertenstock is a popular mountain in summer as well as in spring with Ski. The Rhaeto-Romanic name is Péz Durschin. First ascent: 7. September 1863 by Roth, Sand and Raillard.

Route & Difficulty

The normal route no. 621 is called "Bänderweg". It is a band in the south wall of the Bifertenstock. The "Bänderweg" is one of the most impressive tour in the eastern Alps of Switzerland!

Our route led over the north east wall, the "Eisnase/Ice nose". That is a difficult ice tour. Starting point from Biferten Hut.
Difficulty: S (D)

Ski tour route:
Breil/Brigels - Val Frisal - P.3076m - east ridge - Bifertenstock (very difficult)
Difficulty: S+ , 2150 metres in altitude from Breil/Brigels. Route no. 213

By public transport:

Train from Chur (capital of Grisons) to Flims and Breil/Brigels 1287m.
