Patience Pawn Climb

[ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Patience Pawn Climb
Patience Pawn, 5.7, Just up from Ten Pins past Cleopatra, Needles, Custer State Park, SD
Great day starter route to get used to the rock, a coarse igneous granite called pegmatite, that is characterized by large well-formed crystals. These crystals make for an amazing number of holds, albeit, not all strong ones. (route page coming) April, 2006 (that is actually local climbing legend Bob Archbold on route, thanks for showing me around!)

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
