Paiute, Toll, Pawnee  Sucess!

Did a fun linkup of Paiute Peak, Mt. Toll, and Pawnee Peak. Easy going up the south slopes of Paiute, and Mt. Toll only required a few Class 3 moves on the northwest route. Really easy from there to get up to Pawnee, and then down the Pawnee Pass Trail Back to Mitchell Lake.

Came close in 1974  Sucess!

Checked my old records. Apparently I made it to the pass in 1974, but never to the summit until 2012.

My First 12er  Sucess!

This was the first of the Indian Peaks that I climbed, and the start of my incredible awe of this area. Beautiful climb in one of my most favorite places in Colorado.

First Trip into IPW  Sucess!

Despite low lying clouds most of the day, it ended up being a great day, with the clouds clearing for a while at Pawnee Pass. IPW appears to be a beautiful area that I hope to get back to for sure.

Pawnee Pass  Sucess!

Peakbug and I climbed up on a beautiful day with clear skies and little wind. I had ambitions of additional peaks, but we lacked the time. A return trip is definitely in order. The wildlife was active and we had a great encounter with an American marten as well as a number of other furry friends.

Fun Hike w/great Views  Sucess!

Just hiked up from Pawnee Pass. Finally got away from the crazy heat in the front range as I actually needed a light jacket up high!

From Little Pawnee  Sucess!

Traversed from Little Pawnee. I'd classify some of the notches more difficult than Class 3, but that only made for a more memorable experience.

From Long Lake  Sucess!

Been there many times, never see winds so high. Nice hike, wanted to Little Pawnee too, but i had no desire with high winds.

Mitchell Lake Trail - Pawnee Pass Trail Loop  Sucess!

We made a beautiful loop by ascending via the Mitchell Lake Trail to the saddle between Pawnee and Toll, then descending via Pawnee Pass and out. Beautiful morning, clouds grew in the mid-day, and we got rained on during the out-hike.

Pawnees to Toll

Climbed East Ridge as part of traverse from Little Pawnee to Toll. Stormed off Paiute. Fantastic traverse to Pawnee! Was fun to laugh at the crowds on Audubon.

From Long Lake  Sucess!

Nice day with a late start (9:30am). Thought about continuing to Toll, but the dog seemed tired so didn't want to push him. I know it was a big snow year, but I was still surprised by the number of snowfields to cross - even on south-facing slopes. It would've been nice to have SOME kind of snow gear - traction device, trek poles.

Pawnee and Toll  Sucess!

Started near Brainard Lake, took the Niwot Cutoff to Long Lake and then up to Pawnee Pass. From there headed up to the summit of Pawnee Peak, and down to the saddle between Pawnee and Toll. The south slope of Toll looked a lot steeper than it actually turned out to be. Headed back to the Pawnee-Toll saddle and then headed down to Blue Lake.

Pawnee traverse  Sucess!

The snow/ice made it a bit hairy in spots and we had low visibility the whole time. But somehow these elements made it a very fun day scrambling. With Brian, Scott, and Jack.

From Shoshoni  Sucess!

then did 1/2 the traverse in reverse to Little Pawnee with some technical climbing in between. That was interesting. I bet the route from Little Pawnee to Pawnee is neato. Gotta hit that next.
